STUDIO TORBINA X HOMIES PERFORMANCE

Burnt collection live performance
SM Bureau, Paris
22 January, 2026
STUDIO TORBINA’s performance in burnt wood explores the moment where destruction becomes creation. Using fire as both tool and collaborator, the studio works directly with the surface of wood, allowing heat, smoke, and time to leave irreversible marks. The act of burning is treated as a live performance — unpredictable, physical, and irreversible — where control is constantly negotiated with chance.

Burnt wood becomes an archive of action: scars, gradients, cracks, and shadows record the intensity and duration of the encounter. The material holds memory, carrying traces of risk, resistance, and transformation. Rather than hiding damage, Studio Torbina elevates it, revealing beauty in altered matter and emphasizing the fragile balance between force and form.

This practice situates fire not as a symbol of destruction, but as a generative process — one that exposes the inner structure of wood and challenges traditional ideas of permanence, authorship, and craftsmanship.

SOUL OF MATIÈRE
Collectible Design Exhibition
SM BUREAU, Design Gallery,
3 Sepetember - 22 October, 2025.

On the occasion of Paris Design Week, SM BUREAU unveils its new space with Soul of Matière, the first exhibition by STUDIO TORBINA.

To mark its opening, Studio Torbina presents a series of objects where wood, stone, and form converse with quiet precision. A silent yet vibrant dialogue unfolds between the hand that shapes and the matter that yields.

With Soul of Matière, the studio delves into the raw soul of materials — their weight, their grain, their silent presence. Here, material is not just a medium; it is a language. Each piece strikes a balance between texture and weight, restraint and sensitivity — where structure becomes poetry.
